Founded less than four years ago, the Feadship Heritage Fleet association has swiftly grown from an initiative by a few well-meaning fans into an active association of considerable stature. As well as fulfilling the original concept of showcasing the rich history of the Feadship brand, the FHF organises various events and offers a range of attractive services to members.
‘An association for the owners of Feadships which are more than thirty years old’: this was the goal of those who gathered at the inaugural meeting of the Feadship Heritage Fleet (FHF) in April 2013 at the De Roode Leeuw. The choice of location was a very deliberate one as this renowned restaurant in Amsterdam was where the very first meeting was held to set up Feadship in 1949.
The founding fathers of the Feadship Heritage Fleet do not expect to have quite such a global impact as those who sat in the same restaurant almost seven decades ago but they did have some very clear goals: to unite the owners of classic Feadships, promote the continuance of Feadship’s heritage, organise events for members and offer services related to their Feadships.
These aims have very much been met over the past four years as more than sixty Feadship owners have joined the FHF. A clear sense of community has developed as members share their experiences with like-minded individuals who understand their passion. As an association run by members for members, the FHF has an active board that currently consists of Chapman Ducote, Arthur van Berge Henegouwen, Victor Muller and Rory Brooks. It also has a history committee that seeks out lost Feadships and brings to life the story of those already found.
Events organised to date include the annual FHF Rendezvous at one of the Feadship yards (including a tour of the facilities), being one of the very few motoryacht brands allowed to take part in the Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe, and joining the fantastic SAIL Amsterdam event. A range of sponsors provide bespoke services, including Awlgrip, Sevenstar Yacht Transport, Pantaenius (insurance) and Studio Stomp (digital/online agency). Also, some events are sponsored by special events partners. Meanwhile, the FHF also now has its own annual member magazine called Heritage World.
With active plans for expansion in the United States, there has never been a better time to join the Feadship Heritage Fleet. All owners of Feadships launched thirty years ago or more are invited to contact the association directly via firstname.lastname@example.org. The rest of us can simply sit back and admire these beautiful boats!
